A bevelled, mirrored frame throws light back into the room, a band of faux gemstones catches it, and a black face keeps the numerals legible against all that sparkle. At 20 by 20 inches it holds a wall on its own without needing a gallery arrangement around it.

The octagonal shape softens the corners of a square without going fully round, which makes it easier to place above a console table, a mantel or a sideboard. Roman numerals suit a traditional room, while the mirrored trim keeps the whole thing from reading as old fashioned. In a hallway or a dining room the mirror finish also makes a narrow space feel wider.

Movement is quartz, accurate and simple, with no chime and no hourly strike to interrupt a room. It runs on a single AA battery, which is not included, and hangs on a standard wall hook. Clean the mirrored trim with a dry or barely damp cloth rather than a spray, and hang it on a fixing rated for the weight of a glass framed clock. Fit a fresh battery once a year and the movement will keep good time.

Size: 20 x 20 inches

Shape: octagonal

Frame: mirrored with a bevelled edge and faux gemstone trim

Dial: black with Roman numerals

Movement: quartz, no chime or strike

Battery: 1 x AA, not included

Care: wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0825/4033/1221/files/hf_20260827_051332_43773ddf-8d9a-4430-b173-2d25aa4b007a.png?v=1787807725
roman-numeral-wall-clock
Roman Numeral Wall Clock

The Roman Numeral Wall Clock from Noreya is an oversized 24 inch piece with open numerals and a hollow dial, so the wall colour shows through the middle of the clock. Read from across a room it is instantly legible; up close it works more like wall art than a timepiece. It suits a large blank wall in a living room, a kitchen or a home office.

The open construction keeps a large clock from feeling heavy. Because there is no solid backing plate behind the numerals, it sits lighter on the wall and does not dominate a room the way a filled 24 inch dial would. In black it reads graphic against pale paint, brick or panelling, and it pairs well with the kind of wall that has nothing else on it.

The movement is silent, sweeping rather than ticking, which is the point in a bedroom or any room where somebody works. It is battery powered with a hook on the back, so there is no wiring and no need to be near a socket. Hang it to a level line, since an open dial makes any tilt in the numerals obvious from across the room. Dust the numerals with a soft brush rather than a cloth, which can catch on the open edges.

Diameter: 24 inches

Style: open Roman numerals, hollow dial

Movement: silent, non-ticking sweep

Power: battery operated

Mounting: hook on the back, no wiring needed

Finish: black

Suits: living room, kitchen, office, bedroom

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0825/4033/1221/files/hf_20260827_051332_4ec98897-e706-4c0f-b66c-08fa3a6c3bb0.png?v=1787807725
